A Holiday voucher code can save you money when you book online!

Using holiday voucher codes

Most of us are now looking to book either a winter break or our holidays for next summer and as you may be aware, you can often find voucher codes which give extra discounts on all sorts of things when you shop online.

How do holiday voucher codes work?

Using holiday voucher codes is very simple. All you do is note down the code (which is usually a word or a mixture of words and letters), click to visit the travel agency, hotels website or holiday website (depending on what kind of voucher code it is and where you can use it of course), browse the site and add your booking to your shopping basket, like you would on any other website, and then when you get to the checkout page, look for a box called something like “Voucher codes” or “discount codes” or “promotional codes” and type in the holiday voucher code. Yours shopping basket will update and then you should see a nice discount! Continue to pay for your booking as normal.

Where can you find holiday voucher codes?

The problem however is finding the voucher codes, and in particular, finding valid voucher codes because there are loads of websites that are full of spammy promises of voucher codes but when you click their links, they don’t actually have any, or they just have out of date voucher codes that you can’t use any more.

Well, fortunately we’ve found a great UK voucher code site which provides money off codes for holidays and travel as well as thousands of other retailers, only this one only shows current valid codes so you’re not wasting your time clicking all over the place.

It’s called http://www.genuinevouchercodes.com .

So, before you book your holiday, flight, hotel or airport parking - make sure you visit Genuine Voucher Codes for Holiday voucher codes first!

Turkey has been popular in recent years because of the exchange rate against the Euro being so poor and because prices are much more reasonable in Turkey than other holiday destinations. In fact, only other non-Euro holiday destinations come close (like Egypt).

Current problems in Europe (and notably Greece) is also causing more problems for Eurozone countries and it has to be said, prices for holidaymakers in Europe are now getting silly with a pint of lager costing 5.5 Euros in many Spanish resorts whereas ten years ago you would have expected to pay 50 pence a pint or less!

The fact that British holiday makers are getting screwed on food, drink and basic grocery supplies (for those who stay in apartments or pensions) means that unless you can get a great all inclusive deal, you’ll probably want to consider Turkey as your choice of resort. So where are the best parts to stay?

Here are three of Turkey’s best beaches. Now if you don’t like package holidays remember you can always try and book your hotel seperately from Alpharooms and then find a flight from Wegolo (see the right of the page for links). You’ll probably end up saving a lot of money on your holiday.

1. Konyaalti beach, Antalya

There is something quite wonderful about city beaches. I love the fact that you can be in a modern shop one minute, and then on a proper beach the next! Antalya is very popular with British tourists and there are tons of places to stay as well as places to eat and drink. The airport is around 20 minutes away as well so this is somewhere you can easily get too by taxi if you are arranging your own holiday.

2. Olympos beach, Olympos.

Olympus is about one and a half hours away from Antalya hence isn’t quite so easy to plan your holiday around. There are buses from Antalya however so it’s not beyond your capability to get there without resorting to a mega expensive taxi ride. Lots to do around Olympos as well and loads of great and reasonably prices restaurant. The beach is a stunner, and very popular – especially with backpackers who don’t mind making the trek to find it.

3. Ölüdeniz Beach, Ölüdeniz.

Probably the best beach in Turkey and one of the best in Europe. Popular with everyone and famous the world over so always busy. It’s about half an hour from Dalaman airport. Getting there is fairly easy because there is a shared taxi that goes to and from the airport. Ask around to find where to catch it and you can get around cheaply. Because it is so popular there is pretty much everything to do there in terms of watersports, leisure, food and drink. Well worth a visit!

Puerto Pollensa a Majorcan jewel

Majorca has a lot of beautiful beaches and resorts which retain their Spanish heritage, along with, it must be said, a lot of Anglicised resorts with plenty of British bars and facilities for Brits abroad. That’s why Majorca is one of the top destinations for UK travellers looking for a great beach holiday, especially when on a budget.

The bay at Puerto Pollensa

Majorca also has some lovely hidden gems, and one we wanted to bring to your attention is the gorgeous resort of Puerto Pollensa which lies on the north west coast of Majorca. It’s a beautiful and relatively underdeveloped port village with really superb beaches, and plenty of wonderful restaurants serving authentic Spanish food. I’ve personally been there several times on family holidays and it’s one of our favorite resorts because it is quiet (no noisy nightlife, discos, British bars), and it feels very very safe. There’s a lovely promenade and pine walk which takes you right along the sea front, and a wonderful range of accomodation from self catering apartments and small hotels right through to large out of town compexes offering all inclusive deals. We had some of the best Majorcan food imaginable, some lovely local stews, and also the obligatory Paella, which was better than anything we’ve ever had anywhere else and probably half the price of a London tapas bar.

Pollensa town the walk to the chapel

Puerto Pollensa (Port de Pollenca) is also a short bus ride away from Pollensa town itself which is an amazing fortified Roman town full of fantastic windy roads full of quality shops (not just your regular tourist shops either as this is a town lived in by wealthy Majorcans) and a long stone pathway which leads to an ancient chapel called the Mare de Déu del Peu de la Creu (Mother of God at the Foot of the Cross). The views at the top of the pathway are absolutely breathtaking.

Puerto Pollensa is not for young groups of friends looking for exciting nightlife, it’s for couples, singles and families who want a peaceful holiday away from the mad crowds. It also isn’t the cheapest resort in terms of food and drink prices, but the fact that things cost a little more may actually be one of the factors that have allowed it to retain its character and not be overrun by the masses. It’s very smart and extremely well maintained. The town square is immaculate and so are the beaches.

As well as Pollensa town, it’s also possible to travel to other nearby places of interest. Alcudia is just along the coast and it has a lovely old town full of character as well as a resort area with plenty of British bars and cafes if that’s what you’re after.

I stayed in two very different places. One was a small Hotel complex called Flora Apartments which was about a five minute walk from the beach front. Flora was excellent. It was cheap, very clean, and well maintained. The facilities were perfectly adequate (we weren’t planning on staying in our rooms all week) and it had its own small pool area and bar, though little in the way of entertainment. However, we were travelling with a small child so that didn’t matter, in fact it was better for us to have some peace and quiet in the evening. It was also full of couples and families, which meant there were no groups of drunks rampaging through the hotel in the early hours, a problem that now afflicts many hotels and complexes across Europe.

The next time we stayed in Club Del Sol, a larger resort which offered all inclusive options and had a bigger pool area and a kids club. It also had

a mini disco and entertainment in the evenings, but it was a good 20 minute walk from Puerto Pollensa itself – fine if your children are in prams and can be pushed along the roadside by the grown ups, but not so good if they have to walk. There are buses though, and a taxi should only cost around 5 Euros. We stayed bed and breakfast, though many went for the all inclusive option. We found the food to be very good, and we had dinner there once or twice and that was also good. The entertainment was also good, and there was an arcade, table tennis, and other activities on offer. I’d definitely recommend it, and it was very cheap as well.

If you speak to someone who has been to Puerto Pollensa the chances are, that their eyes will glaze over and they’ll start to wax lyrical about the sheer loveliness of the place. The friendly locals, the pine walk, the delicious local food and the beautiful beaches. Many people who go there return again and again because it becomes a favorite holiday resort and it has a large almost fan base in the UK because its the sort of pl
